Quezon City suburb of Greater Manila

Cultural Section of Iran held medical and dentistry mission at Quezon City of Manila

On 8 March 2015, Cultural Section of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the cooperation of the Health Center Barangay of the Holy Spirit of the Quezon City of the great Manila, the Philippines-Iran friendship society, a number of the volunteer doctors, dentists and nurses of the universities MCU, UE, CEU, UP and UC, the Iranian Students Islamic Association Manila, Iranian Students Organization in Manila Central University, Pilipino- Iranian Society and Arm Forces of the Philippines offered free Medical and Dentistry services. The purpose of this mission was to help and serve those needy people, who cannot afford the expenses of medical and dentistry services. In this free of charge Medical Mission which was sponsored by Cultural Section, 8 Filipino doctors, 14 Iranian and 10 Pilipino Medical and Dentistry students were invited to participate. The program started at 8.00am and ended at 13.00pm the same day at Children International Philippines, Community Service 3, in Barangay Holly sprit, Marcelino Street, Dilliman Quezon City, great Manila. The Medical and Dentistry Mission covered complimentary medical and dentistry needs of 250 residents. A total of 250 adults and children received dentistry care and/or minor operations. In addition, 186 children received anti-tetanus shots; 143 more were each given Vitamin A and de-worming supplements. The Medical and Dentistry Mission provided blood-pressure reading, free medical consultation from doctors, free dentistry services, checkup and treatment of patients. It distributed vitamin supplements, pain killers and anti-biotic to out patients also. Ali Asghar Mohamadi, Iranian ambassador in the Philippines and Dr.Ma. Cristina Aurea G Garcia, dean of college of dentistry of the MCU visited the mission and they encouraged and supported Filipino doctors and Iranian students for their humanitarian tasks. Dr Kiyomars Amiri the Cultural Counselor, of the Iran on the other hand in his full support of the mission said “it is a wonderful opportunity to help needy Filipinos, and to enjoy meeting them and learning a little bit about their lives”. According to Dr. Amiri, this program was sponsored by Cultural Section of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and some Iranian donors. He revealed that his office is going to perform 8 free Medical, Dentistry feed mission in 2015 in different areas at great Metro Manila and its suburb. Dr. Henelito Sevilla president of the Philippines-Iran friendship society addressed that this kind of programs will surely bring together people of Iran and Philippines to each other and strengthens the relation between two great nations.
