Philippines keen on cultural ties

Chairman of the Philippines National Commission for Culture and the Arts on Wednesday called for expanding ties with Iran.Felipe M. de Leon, Jr., in a meeting with Irans Cultural Attaché in the Philippines Kiumars Amiri, expressed Manilas readiness to boost cultural and artistic cooperation with Tehran, IRNA said. "Iran has been constructive in getting the Muslims together," he noted. Referring to his visit to Iran, the Filipino official said, "Iran has thinkers such as Khayyam and Molana. In my research, I found Molana a human who seeks exaltation of human soul and dignity. "The two sides also discussed ways to cooperate on organizing joint congresses, book translation and publication and introducing the luminaries of both countries. Amiri also underlined the key status of Iran and the Philippines in West and East Asia as well as in the Muslim world. He also referred to Irans humanitarian activities in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and the celebration of the Iranian tradition of Norouz (the Iranian New Year) in over 20 countries.
